Dragn Yore Group Helps Saudi Arabia's KAFD Metro Station Develop a World-Class Smart Wayfinding System, Setting a New Benchmark for Smart CitiesIn recent years, Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030" plan has been deeply implemented, and the capital, Riyadh, is undergoing unprecedented urban transformation. As the core economic engine of this vision, the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) not only gathers top global financial institutions but is also renowned for its futuristic urban design. With the full opening of the Riyadh Metro, the KAFD metro station, as one of the city's largest transfer hubs, plays a crucial role in connecting Metro Lines 1, 4, and 6, as well as the district's monorail. To ensure efficient passage for hundreds of thousands of high-end business travelers and visitors daily, a wayfinding system that combines technological sophistication with an exceptional user experience has become essential.Against this backdrop, Dragn Yore Group, leveraging its extensive experience in large-scale international transportation hub projects, successfully won the bid for the design and manufacturing of the KAFD metro station's wayfinding system. Following in-depth on-site surveys and passenger flow simulation analysis, we discovered that this metro station not only possesses a complex spatial structure—comprising six platforms, four levels of public space, and two underground parking levels—but also, as a landmark building designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, its flowing, meandering interior and exterior surfaces present significant challenges to traditional signage installation. The Dragn Yore Group team, in collaboration with the internationally renowned wayfinding design firm Endpoint, based on the concept of "technology empowerment and people-oriented design," customized an intelligent wayfinding solution covering 15.5 kilometers of elevated walkways and ground-level streets, perfectly integrating static guidance with dynamic digital interaction.Regarding materials and craftsmanship, to adapt to Riyadh's extreme high temperatures and dusty climate, Dragn Yore Group selected industrial-grade aluminum alloy with extremely strong weather resistance and a UV-resistant coating. The main profiles meet or exceed the 6063-T5 standard in mechanical properties, ensuring tensile strength and structural stability; the surface treatment employs a four-coat, two-bake fluorocarbon spraying process, with an average film thickness ≥65μm, effectively resisting wind and sand erosion and ensuring the wayfinding system remains like new for decades in harsh environments. Meanwhile, all signage adheres strictly to international ergonomic standards to ensure clear visibility even at high speeds or long distances.To meet KAFD's high standards as a "smart city," Dragan Yore Group deployed a large-scale integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in this project. The project includes over 355 digital screens and 15,500 static signs. The core D103 vertical digital wayfinding screen and D109 cantilevered digital wayfinding sign are equipped with irregularly shaped LED displays with a 6mm pixel pitch and AI cameras. This system incorporates facial recognition and intelligent wayfinding software, dynamically adjusting screen content based on real-time pedestrian density and characteristics to provide personalized navigation for travelers. Furthermore, a cloud-based CMS content management system allows maintenance personnel to remotely monitor the operational status of each screen and lightbox, updating subway schedules, conference information, and emergency evacuation information in real time. This "edge-cloud-pipe" architecture completely eliminates the drawbacks of traditional signage's delayed content updates, significantly reducing maintenance costs for the operations team.This intelligent wayfinding system, custom-designed for the KAFD metro station, not only provides global travelers with a pure and intuitive visual guidance experience with "zero chemical additives" (referring to the high fidelity and interference-free presentation of information), but also saves the financial district significant energy consumption through AI intelligent algorithms and ultra-low power LED technology, upgrading traditional passive guidance into a highly efficient and proactive digital public interaction platform.Dragn Yore Group, with its top-notch manufacturing processes and forward-looking digital technologies, not only helped KAFD metro station win the title of having the best wayfinding system for the world's largest ground-level pedestrian corridor network, but also showcased the core strength of Chinese intelligent manufacturing in the construction of mega-scale smart city infrastructure, illuminating the future path of Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030".
